More about Liberty Double Eagle

The double eagle is one of the many gold coins of the United States and it has a face value of $20. It is made up of ninety percent gold and is considered to be a great collectible for anyone into coins and even for those who are just simply into history. The Liberty double eagle is one of the designs created for this particular $20 coin. It is noted for the artwork that hasn't impressed as much as others have and therefore was less in demand than the other subtype called Saint Gaudens.

The design has changed over the years since its original inception in 1949. The first design had no motto but was with the value of 'Twenty D' but in 1866 this changed so that the motto of 'In God We Trust' was placed on the coin and the value stayed the same. In 1877, the design changed once again but this time it was the value which was then stated as 'Twenty Dollars'. These three designs of coins in the subtype of the Liberty Head are considered to be regular issue. They are used as collectibles but do have great value both monetarily and historically to those who own or wish to own them.
