More about Gold Eagle
The gold eagle coin is from the United States and is geared towards those people who invest in gold bullion. This coin was first released in 1986 and is offered in four different weights. These weights include 1/10oz, 1/4oz, 1/2oz, and 1oz. These coins are guaranteed by the government to contain at least a certain amount of weight in actual gold which is weighed in troy ounces. The rest of the coin is composed of silver and copper.
The market value of these coins is not their face value but is the market value for the amount of gold that the coins contain which make it a good investment for gold buyers. The selling prices of these coins vary every day because of the changing market values but on average as of spring in 2009, the $5, $10, $25, and $50 were selling at $130, $275, $550, and $1000 respectively. Though they are considered to be legal tender, because they are valued at so much more than what one would get by using it as legal tender, it is extremely rare when it happens.
These coins can be purchase online or offline and it is recommended that an interested buyer watch market values consistently before investing.
